WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said on Monday that President Joe Biden would veto a bill by House of Representatives Republicans on the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) if it passes the U.S. Congress.
In a letter last week, Granholm warned Republicans that limiting Biden’s authority to tap the nation’s oil reserves would undermine national security, cause shortages and raise gasoline prices.
Granholm said she has no concerns the United States will be able to refill the SPR and save taxpayers money.
